How Superstitions Work

There are many superstitions in this world. For example, sneezing once is not considered good before performing a task, cat crossing the road etc. What is the basic principle behind the working of these superstitions?

The basic principle is belief. If you believe that the consequences of a certain superstition will occur, then chances are they might occur. However, if you choose not believe in the superstitious and carry on, taking things lightly, most likely your the superstition will not work.

Belief is a big thing that can even make mountains move. If you believe in something, it can manifest. With time your belief will manifest and it is also called law of attraction.
Superstitions are based on beliefs. They are also been believed as an indication, prediction or precaution for future events from ancient times. However, you can practice as an individual in practicing not believing in the superstition and see how it works. Some incidents are meant to happen, so they might happen even if you practice law of attraction or not, and that is based on god's will, they are destined events. However, day to day superstitions can be ignored and chances are they will not work.
I have practiced not believing in sneeze superstition, which is popular in India, and I have seen it not work. Hence, it is something which has to believed and practiced.
Hence, choose to or not to believe in a superstitions according to your will, and see the results.
